5.Name:-Faiq
Age:- 16 years
Class/category​:- Severe category
Diagnosis​:- Severe intellectual disability

Socioeconomic status​:-Very poor. Faiq’s father is a driver and due to the present situation, his work is badly affected. He is earning only 3000 rupees per month. Strike, Curfew, the lockdown has badly affected the family’s financial condition.

ACADEMICS​:-Since Faiq has significant development challenges and regression, therefore he is not focused on education. Goals have been set in academics, aimed at improving concentration, attention span, and hand-eye coordination. He is able to identify and recognize common fruits.

Fine motor activities ​:- His fine motors were weak and he was not able to hold the pencil in his hand so the focus was to improve his fine motor skills, grasp, hand functioning. Now he is able to hold the pencil in his hand and does scribbling.

ADLS​:- Faiq has achieved the goal of eating food with a spoon from a plate independently and he has achieved the toilet control which was a challenge.

Behavior​:-Faiq’s negative behavior was unnecessarily touching the private parts. Because of the behavior modification therapy sessions, he is overcoming this negative behavior.

SOCIAL​:- Faiq was not good at socializing. But now he has improved his social skill. He greets the teacher and enjoys the company of friends.


6.Name:- Fardeen
Age:-22 years
Class:-Mild section
Diagnosis:-Down Syndrome with intellectual disability

Socioeconomic status​:- Fardeen’s family is very poor. His father used to sell ice-cream but they used to rent it and the owner asked him to vacate which led to a financial crunch.

ACADEMICS​:- Fardeen recognizes and reads and writes alphabets. He is well aware of the topic of “Myself”. Writing and reading from 1 to 100. He is able to write 1 to 20 and he is able to do single-digit addition.

Concept​:- Fardeen has the concept of fruits, vegetables, animals, and colors. He is able to differentiate the different hands of the clock. He has the concept of hours but has not yet achieved the concept of minutes.

ADLS​:- Fardeen is independent in dressing, bathing, and grooming himself. As shaving is an important ADL skill for the adult to be independent. The present goal of ADL activity is shaving. He is able to handle trimmer nicely but has not achieved the goal fully yet.

Social​:- Fardeen has very good social skills. Greets and interacts very well with others.

Sports​:- Fardeen takes great interest in the recitation of naats. Not interested in outdoor games.

Vocation​:- Prepares almost all products without assistance like ice cream stick products, match sticks, wall hangings, pot decorations, paintings, envelopes /carry bags, and juice products.


7. Name:- Aafreen
Age:-27 years
CLASS​:- Moderate section
Diagnosis​:- Moderate intellectual disability.


Socioeconomic status​:- Aafreen is an orphan. Both of her parents have passed away. Her day to day requirements are fulfilled by her maternal uncle who is struggling financially.

ACADEMICS​:- She is able to recognize, identify, write, and read the alphabet (A to S) and counting from 1 to 30.

Concept​:- Aafreen is able to recognize, identify, and name five common fruits, vegetables, and basic colors. She has grasped the concept nicely with good generalization.

ADLS​:- She is independent of wearing clothes. She can also perform various activities like grooming, bathing activities, washing her hands, brushing her teeth, and buttoning and unbuttoning her clothes without any assistance. The focus now is to train her on combing hair.

Social​:-Aafreen has developed good social skills.
Sports​:- Takes part in games like Kho-Kho, passing the ball.

kitchen and laundry activities​:- She is able to cut different types of vegetables and is presently getting training for making tea.

Behavior​:-She used to use abusive language but her behavior is slowly changing.


8.Name:- Mariya
Age:-17 years
Class:-Moderate section
Diagnosis:-Down syndrome


Socioeconomic status​:-Mariya is an orphan and her family is without a bread earner. They are dependent on their relatives and neighbours for financial assistance. The ongoing turmoil has had an adverse effect on the upbringing and rehabilitation of Mariya as the current situation has impacted their day to day living.

ACADEMICS​:- Mariya is able to write alphabets (A to J) and has Memorized the counting from 1 to 40 And she is also able to write 1 to 20.

CONCEPT​:- Mariya is able to recognize, identify fruits, vegetables, and body parts.
ADLS​:- She is independent in wearing clothes.
SOCIALIZATION​:- Mariya is shy and doesn’t mix with others.
Sports​:- Takes part in games like kho-kho and passing the ball.


9.Name:- Adnaan
Age:-17 years
Class:-4th standard
Diagnosis​:-C.P


Socio-economic status​:-Adnaan’s father has passed away. His mother is the only supporter of the whole family. She also has two more kids.

ACADEMIC​:- He has achieved the concept of single-digit addition, concept, and drawing of the line segment. Short and long things. Memorizes the table of 2 and 3.Concept of bridge and material needed for making a bridge

PHYSICAL​:-Adnaan is undergoing physical therapy sessions regularly to reduce muscle tightness, maintenance of balance, and coordination. Prevention of contracture and deformities.

Speech​:- Strengthening of oral motor muscles and correction of different articulation errors.
Behaviour​:- Adnaan used to be a bit aggressive and non-cooperative but now with behaviour modification and therapy sessions, his behavior is much calmer and shows increased interest and motivation in classes.


SOCIAL​: Adnaan was not comfortable socializing but now he takes interest in group play/therapy.


10. Name:- Musaib
AGE:-18 years
Class:-5th standard
Diagnosis​ :-C.P


Socio economic status​:-Musaib’s father is a taxi driver by occupation, due to the death of his wife it is not possible for him to continue working as his job entails to be away from home for extended periods of time.

ACADEMICS​:- Musaib has grasped the concept of single digit addition, concept and drawing of line segment. Short and long things. Memorizes the table of 2 and 3 and has a concept of bridge and material needed for making a bridge .

SOCIAL​:-Musaib is not so good at socializing.
SPORTS​:- Doesn’t show much interest in sports. Preferred to keep to himself but has learnt to enjoy the

company of his friends.

SPEECH​:- Oral motor exercises for strengthening oral motor muscles. Speech and language stimulation therapy was given to Musaib and now he is able to speak single word sentences.

Note: VMS is currently providing online classes for the past two months because of the COVID-19 crisis.
